Song For Leon
I walk along the seashore at sunset
And view the hues in the crystal sky.
I turn my face to the heaven’s above me
An’ I say, “Hey, Show Me A Way To Stay High”.
I watch as the passing years corrode
The heart from a young man’s dream.
I see my destination more clearly now
And I find that it’s not what it seemed.
How can I try to hold back my tears
When I think of the man that’s gone?
Lord, why did you give him just 23 years
And then why did you make me live on, and on?
Why did you make me live on?
The past is just water run under time’s bridge
And today is just here for a while
And that pathway we’re all followin’ is a phantom of mist
Where each step seems like a mile.
Don’t each step feel like a mile?
How can I know this is a dream ‘til I wake?
I feel like one star in a sky
And death might just be life’s greatest reward.
Tell me how can we know ‘til we die?
How can we know ‘til we die?
I walk along the seashore at sunset
And view the hues in the crystal sky.
I place my faith in the heavens above me
An’ I say, “Hey, Show Me A Way To Stay High”.
Hey, Show Me A Way To Stay High.
