Disneyland Blues

I’m goin’ out on the street tonight.

I’m gonna have me a real good time.

I ain’t lookin’ to meet nobody.

I just need to find a dime

To cloud my mind, make me feel so fine.

Don’t wanna walk no tightrope, don’t wanna toe no line.

I wanna slide my blues on down to Disneyland.

Wanna ride my blues away in Disneyland.

Oh, I love it so.

There’s no place else I’d rather go.

I wanna slide my blues on down to Disneyland.

Wanna ride my blues away in Disneyland

I wanna be the ghost in the mirror, hear Donald Duck,

Ride with the Pirates, meet Lady Luck,

Parade down Main Street with a musket in my hand,

Blast into space in Tomorrow Land,

Hear “It’s A Small World After All”,

Crash down the Matterhorn.  I wanna do it all.

- Chorus -

There’s a cold wind blowin’ through the crack in my house

And the man with the razor blade ain’t Mickey Mouse

I need the Magic Kingdom and Fantasy Land

To soothe my soul and to calm my hand.

After too many years on Mr. Toad’s Ride

It seems Prince Charming’s a little lost inside.

- Chorus -

NOTES:  I started to write this song in 1995 and then finished it 20 years later.  When I was in college we would refer to taking psychedelics as "going to Disneyland".  It wasn't always sunshine and roses but it was always an interesting ride.
