 Jesus Darlin'

Jesus Darlin’ did you see me standin’ there

Like Jack the Ripper out in the cold night air

While you were dancin’ down by the swimmin’ pool

With Mahatma Gandhi?  You were lookin’ way too cool.

Ah, Jesus Darlin’, you were lookin’ way too cool.

An’ Jesus Darlin’ what about your journey to the East?

Did you learn from the lamas or maybe a Taoist priest?

When you wandered in the desert was that sea really Red

When you were thirsty and hungry where did you find water and bread?

Hey Jesus Darlin’ how did you feed your head?

An’ hey Jesus Darlin’ when you were young and strong

Were you always kind and did you get along?

When you threw the money changers from the temple gate

That seemed a little violent.  Did you feel just a little hate?

Hey Jesus Darlin’ did you feel just a little hate?

An’ Jesus Darlin’ don’t it seem that you’re to blame

For all those unholy things that are done in your good name,

Every evil deed that’s done behind closed Christian doors

And every lonesome orphan child, a victim of those holy wars?

Hey Jesus Darlin’ what about those holy wars?

Jesus Darlin’ did you see me standin’ there

Like Jack the Ripper out in the cold night air

While you were dancin’ down by the swimmin’ pool

With Mahatma Gandhi?  You were lookin’ way too cool.

Ah, Jesus Darlin’, you were lookin’ way too cool.
