Too Much Wine

Lately I been thinkin’, darlin’,

Someone else been drinkin’ on my wine.

You got me seein’ double, baby.

There’s gonna be a little trouble.

I ain’t lyin‘, ooh, ooh, ooh.

I come on home at midnight.  Honey,

Somethin’ just don’t seem all right with you.

Have you had somebody over

An’ did you roll him in the clover?

Tell me true.  Ooh, ooh, ooh.

So if you ask me how I’m doin’

I’ll tell you that I’m feelin’ fine.

But my hair hurts and my teeth itch

An’ I’ve been drinkin’ Too Much Wine.

Now you and your sister Sara

You went down to the county fair, as I recall.

You came back with your lipstick smeared

An’ you had grass stains on your rear.

You said you had a ball, ooh, ooh, ooh.

An’ Sunday dinner with the pastor

Was one Hell of a disaster. You burned the ham.

But you took him down to the cellar

And he came up one happy feller.

Said he loved your jam, ooh, ooh, ooh.

So if you ask me how I’m doin’

I’ll tell you that I’m feelin’ fine.

But my hair hurts and my teeth itch

An’ I’ve been drinkin’ Too Much Wine.

So let me tell you something’.

I ain’t no country bumkin’, like you imply.

I got a late model pickup truck

An’ with just a little bit of luck,

I might get by, ooh, ooh, ooh.

I got some irons in a couple of fires

An’ when I fix those two flat tires, I’ll be rollin’ on.

An’ if you ever get back home

You might just find yourself alone,

‘Cause I could be gone, ooh, ooh, ooh.

So if you ask me how I’m doin’

I’ll tell you that I’m feelin’ fine.

But my hair hurts and my teeth itch

An’ I’ve been drinkin’ Too Much Wine.

Now I was weaned on Burgundy

An’ Cabernet is good for me, I think.

I could lay around and sob

Or try to find myself a job,

But I’d rather drink, ooh, ooh, ooh.

An’ I've always done my best, you see,

But you never really treated me too kind.

So you can blow your nose

And you can dry your eyes

On the shirts I leave behind, ooh, ooh, ooh.

And when you ask me how I’m doin’

I’ll tell you that I’m feelin’ fine.

But my hair hurts and my teeth itch

An’ I’ve been drinkin’ Too Much Wine.

Yeh, my hair hurts and my teeth itch

An’ I’ve been drinkin’ Too Much Wine.

NOTES:  I wrote the chorus to this song several years ago and just added the verses in 2013.  Best played at a barn dance, this is a "tongue-in-cheek" tune about the fruit of the vine of which I have been known to partake.  If you think that your hair can't hurt and your teeth can't itch, then I suggest that you open another bottle and think again.
